The Pate Leadership Portal Is Open
You are receiving this e-mail notification because you are on the leadership team of the Pate Swap Meet. As such, you still shortly (later today) be provided with access to a new private password-protected facet of the Pate website called the Leadership Portal. All of your other leadership team colleagues are being provided access as well.
This e-mail announcement is the first of two you will possibly receive today. This announcement is going to all of the team and will explain what will be happening. If you do not yet have a User Account in our web system, one will be created for you and the system will send you a second e-mail directly from the system containing your username and temporary password that you should use to log in. If you already have a User Account (even if it was set up in just the last week or so), you will not be sent the second e-mail. Those with pre-existing User Accounts can log in immediately; those accounts have already been given permission to access the new portal.
The Leadership Portal
Our new website is operated by a state-of-the-art content management system (CMS) that allows us to not only run a high-volume high-quality public website, it also allows to provide an unlimited number of private and secure facets for special interest groups. Using this capability, we have set up a private space for the Pate leadership team for the purpose of secure collaboration and communications among leaders.
We are launching the Leadership Portal with an initial private forum for collaborative discussion among the team. We will be adding additional features and applications in the future but the forum will get us started today.
Your User Account
Use of the Leadership Portal requires a personal User Account and password.
If you already have an account on the system, your account has already been upgraded with the appropriate permissions to log into the portal securely. It is ready for your use now.
If you do not yet have a User Account on the system, we will be creating accounts for each of you today. As we complete each new User Account, our CMS will send your new username and password to the same e-mail address registered into the system (which is the same e-mail address where we are sending this notice.)
When you receive the e-mail with your username and password, simply go to the new Leadership Portal and log in:
You won't be able to log in until you receive your username and password for the account we are creating for you. Your access permission is tied directly to your User Account.
Alternatively, from any page on the website, click the "My Account" link in the top right-hand corner of the page. You will be taken to our standard login page. Simply enter your username (or e-mail address) and the password that was supplied to you.
We strongly recommend that after you gain access to the system you change your password to one that is secret and of your own choosing.
For all members of the leadership team, we have configured your start-up page to automatically land you into the Leadership Portal. If you wish to change your landing page in the future, as with all of our registered users, you can change your landing page at any time using the "My Account" functions. To make changes, once logged in, simply click on your username on the top right-hand side of any page on the site. Using "My Account" you can also change your password and other profile information in this same place.
If at any time in the future you forget your password, you can reset a new one. On the login page, click on the "Password?" link in the lower right-hand corner of the login dialog box and follow the on-screen instructions.
As part of your setup, we have also given you access to the Members Portal which is a second and completely separate private space that is used by all registered Pate Vendors (and later Volunteers and other interested parties.) The Member Portal is only thinly populated now, but it is set up, working and receiving new Vendors daily. Over 155 Vendors (complete with User Accounts) have been added to the Member Portal within the last week as they responded to the space confirmations form after the rescheduling announcement. New content will be added to the Member Portal on a weekly basis.
Our CMS uses "single-sign-on techniques" so your one User Account (and its one username and password) can be used to access any new application or private facet that we develop in the future. You only need one User Account and password for all security functions on the entire website.
The Leadership Forum
Inside the Leadership Portal, you will find our first collaboration tool: the Leadership Forum. The Leadership Forum is an open-ended threaded discussion forum that allows the posting or reading of any topic that any leader cares to post. Also, any leader can reply to any topic at any time with one or more comments. Back-and-forth discussions on any topic among the group may continue as long as required.
Ask questions, provide answers, provide information or simply talk about things you wish the group to know about.
The forum automatically sorts threads so the posting with the most recent activity is moved to the top of the topic list. As the interest and traffic on any particular posting wane without activity, it will be pushed down the list deeper and deeper by newer more-active topics. However, at any time, any new comment posted to any old thread will once again move it to the top of the list.
The forum also features an optional "watcher" function wherein you can opt to be sent e-mail notifications when a new comment has been added to any particular thread you are watching. Also, at any time, you can turn off any notifications that you previously set up to watch.
The Leadership Forum provides a secure private space where leaders can discuss topics of interest as a group so that the entire group sees all of the traffic on any thread. The forum is much more efficient and secure when compared against multi-party e-mail. You and the rest of the group decide what topics to discuss by simply posting any topic of interest at any time.

Once you are set up and can initially access the portal, please return often. You can log into the portal at any time.
To facilitate returning to the Leadership Portal, at the very bottom of every page on the website, there is a link to the portal (along with a link to our separate Staff Portal - note you may not necessarily have access to the Staff Portal.) To access your portal, simply click on the "Leadership Portal" link and log in.
In addition to the new traffic posted to the Leadership Forum, from time to time, we will be adding reports and new features/functions.
The entire Leadership Portal, including the Leadership Forum, is secure and private. Only authorized users, all members of the Pate leadership team, have been given access to this portal. The public cannot see the contents of the portal or its discussions.
