Pate Swap Meet COVID-19 Health Protocol
The Pate Swap Meet has developed a 61-page COVID-19 Health Protocol that will be used at our 2021 swap meet event. This document is currently being reviewed by the appropriate officials as part of our "Request for Approval of Outdoor Gatherings" process for the Mayor of the City of Fort Worth. You can download the complete protocol by clicking the button below.
The Pate Swap Meet COVID-19 Heath Protocol will provide guidance for our staff, volunteers, third-party staff, Pate Vendors and Public Visitors. The protocol will govern the safe operations of the Pate Swap Meet.
The protocols contained in this document are the minimum recommended health protocols for all participants in the Pate Swap Meet. These minimum health protocols are not a limit on the health protocols that individuals may adopt. Individuals are encouraged to adopt additional protocols consistent with their specifc needs and circumstances to help protect the health and safety of all participants.
The virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to others by infected persons who have few or no symptoms. To mitigate this threat, everyone should rigorously follow the practices specifed in these protocols, all of which facilitate a safe Pate Swap Meet. The virus that causes COVID-19 is still circulating in our communities. We should continue to undertake practices that protect our communities.
Please note, public health guidance cannot anticipate every unique situation. Individuals should stay informed and take actions based on common sense and wise judgment that will protect health and support economic revitalization.
On December 11, 2020, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in persons aged 16 years and older for prevention of COVID-19. On December 18, 2020, the FDA issued another EUA for a second vaccine from Moderna. Both vaccines have two-dose protocols, three weeks and fours apart respectively. Both vaccines have been proven safe and approximately 95% effective for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
The vaccines were initially made available to group 1A who are front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities. Soon, in Texas, group 1B was added that includes people 65+ or people 16+ with a health condition that increases the risk of severe COVID‑19 illness.
As of February 15, 2021, approximately 35% of all people over the age of 65 have received at least their first injection. Overall, approximately 14% of all Texans have received at least their first injection. The vaccination rate for Texans is accelerating and more Texans will be vaccinated as long as the supply of vaccines continues.
The senior staff of the Pate Swap Meet, all in the 1B group, have already received their two injections each. Each has received either the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. All report that with both vaccines, there were no side-effects and not even injection site reactions.
We recommend that you get the vaccine as soon as you can when you become eligible and the vaccine becomes available in your community.
For those in the car community served by the Pate Swap Meet who are over 65 years of age and plan to be Pate Volunteers, Pate Vendors or Pate Visitors, please get vaccinated before the swap meet if at all possible. If you live in Texas and are over 65, you are automatically included in the 1B group. Please consult with your physician and, if suitable and available to you, get on one of the lists to begin the vaccine protocol.
Please note that we WILL NOT REQUIRE THE INOCULATION to participate in the Pate Swap Meet. We strongly believe that becoming vaccinated is a purely personal decision that should be made by each individual and in consultation with a physician. However, we CERTAINLY recommend vaccination if possible.
Please help us have a safe 2021 Pate Swap Meet by observing the Pate Swap Meet COVID-19 Health Protocol and getting vaccinated as soon as possible so you develop full effectiveness before you arrive at the swap meet.
